The data
Is this what ChatGPT says about my brand?
No. Answers come from Spotlit's own AI model with live web search. We don't read ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini or Google AI Overviews. See How answers are made.
Why does ChatGPT show me something different?
Each AI app uses its own search, model and settings, and answers change from run to run. Our numbers show a careful estimate and a trend, not a copy of any app.
What is my exact AI rank?
There isn't a stable one. Places move between runs, so we show rates and average positions across many answers instead.
Are the fan-out searches real?
They are predicted by our AI model and marked Predicted. We can't see the searches any AI app runs.
Results
Why did my numbers change when I did nothing?
Answers vary, other sites change, and rivals act too. Look at the trend over several scans.
Does being named mean I'll get traffic?
Not necessarily. A mention, a citation, a visit and a lead are different things. Spotlit measures mentions and citations only.
Will llms.txt or schema get me into AI answers?
Studies haven't shown that either one, on its own, gets a brand named more often. Getting onto the sites AI already cites is usually stronger. See Sources.
Can Spotlit prove my page worked?
It records, for every page you publish, how often ChatGPT named you before and after. It doesn't claim what caused it. See Results.
Setup and use
Can I change my questions after the first scan?
Not yet. Questions and market lock after a site's first scan so later scans compare fairly.
Can I track a client's brand?
Yes. Pick A client during setup. See Brands, agencies and clients.
How often is my brand re-checked?
About once a week when tracking is on. See Tracking.
Can I use any tools without an account?
Yes. The free tools run without sign-up.
Cost and account
What does it cost?
Nothing today. Spotlit is free while we build it: free account, no card, fair use of 20 scans a month. See Account, plan and data.
What happens to my data if I delete my account?
Your sign-in is removed. Saved scans stay in our database but are no longer linked to any account. See the Privacy policy.
